windows update 1809 broke my wi-fi again
« on: December 17, 2018, 07:58:23 pm »
I thought for sure they fixed it since it first happened in October. It was a disaster and well publicized.
No.
Had to reinstall the drivers. What an absolute idiocy.

If you could do without windows update 1809, you could just uninstall that update.  If it was a security update you probably have to keep it though.  I've gone through things like that and I just got rid of that specific update, but maybe you can't control the updates anymore if you're using a newer OS.

I reinstalled the driver and that  seems to have fixed everything.
No way to disable it.

I am seriously considering making Fedora the primary boot just running Win10 pro in a VM.

There is something to be said about that. Have one clean and fresh image that you use for each client or project, or just rolling forward. At some point, Windows gets too messy and you just dump that image and start over.

I'm too out of touch with the latest version, but how much RAM & disk space would be required to pull that off on a laptop? Also, since Windows has a tendency to suck the life out of any new chip set, how powerful of a CPU would be required? Would a common laptop be enough?
