I tried my best to get all the bloatware out of Windows 10.  Cortana is the biggest PITA ever to try to get around.  I removed it when I did the install on my friends laptop, but between that and removing all other unwanted garbage it took me almost two hours.

If you could buy Windows 10 without all the garbage, that would be awesome.  Is this legal?  If so, I'm all for it.

Per my brother - you just fire it up from the stick. If you have Win7 and you select the upgrade option it just reuses your license. Now if its a fresh install than you need a key. There are forums on the Web that outline what you need to do regarding the key. I am not going to go into it here. PM if you want to know more.

I have not had time to experiment with it but frankly I don't really want to do it. I use Win10 for work and don't like it. I am not migrating any PC at home unless I have no choice. It doesn't do anything that Win7 doesn't already do. Thanks but I am sticking with Linux and OS X.

A few things that really irk me:

1. The interface sucks. Why they had to freaking change it is beyond me. This flat crap is not "modern". Its stripped of all shading and gradients and the icons look like stick figures. They moved all kinds of stuff around for no apparent reason particularly the Control Panel.

And there is the Start button which they put back. Its not like the Start button from the past. Sorry Microsoft but your vaunted friendliness is GONE.

2. Its SLUGGISH, SLUGGISH, SLUGGISH. My work PC has 16GB of RAM, SSD and its freaking slow and its only about a year old. You click on something it hesitates a lot. WHY? WHY? WHY? Everything is slow to start regardless of what it is.

3. Cortana - I turned it off but like most Microsoft stuff its still there and its annoying as hell.

4. OneDrive integration - I don't want to store my stuff in Microsoft's cloud. When you go to save a file in any MS Office application its constantly nagging you to save it on OneDrive. The navigation to save locally is a PIA. Its like they don't want you to do it.

5. The C drive is hidden inside of File Explorer. I have to figure out how to get to it via the File Explorer.

6. The Edge browser sucks. All of my Microsofts Office 365 has been tailored to work with Edge. You really have no choice but to use it, like it or not. If you use another browser Windows NAGS you about it. It asks you if you want to use Edge. The answer is NO, NO, NO. Now stop nagging me. The nagging never stops.
