Udacity has a new cybersecurity nanodegree

The marketing copy claims "There will be 1.8 million open cybersecurity jobs by 2022!"

In fact, when I last worked for a big defense contractor it seemed like most of the internal job reqs were security related.  A CompTIA Security+ cert was useful, but that involves no hands-on experience like the Udacity degree would give.

Understanding of variables, control and data structures, and object-orientation
Writing basic functions
Using 3rd-party libraries

Intermediate Linux

Understanding of Linux basics, including users, filesystem permissions, and processes

That kind of job is reading code for security holes. There are tools that look for stuff but you still need to be able to read code. Do you really want to read someone else's code all day? No thanks for me.

I think a big fat area is IT Security Auditing. I know a few guys that do this and they seem to do ok.

It means performing security audits on companies and looking for gaps in their process and infrastructure, systems, etc...
