Linux Loses a big one
« on: November 24, 2017, 07:43:30 pm »
For 12 years, the city of Munich has had its 20,000 desktops run Linux instead of Windows. They've recently announced they're converting to Windows 10. It's a big victory for Windows and a big loss for Linux.

The reasons are complicated and disputed, but very interesting. See --

I read the article. I wish they would summarize it. It's long and tedious.

I read the articles too.

I get the impression that the change from Linux to Windows is a political decision and that the politicos don't understand or even care about the technical issues.

I also wonder if the newly elected politicians are being "influenced" by Micro$oft (and other giant corps) more than the politicians that were voted out.

Question:
What is so complicated about that?

Agreed.  They're trying to be fair by including all different viewpoints, but I was they'd just offer a simple conclusion at some point!
