Too many commercial apps and web pages are getting bigger, slower and buggier every year, but NOT better.

WHY??

Incompetence.  Too many software and web site authors write huge amounts of garbage code.

Just guessing, the existing apps get added-to ad nauseum in order to not sacrifice or inconvenience legacy users. I bet that has a lot to do with application bloat.

I agree that legacy code can be a problem but I think that we could all see this starting 10 or more years back with faster machines, more RAM, etc. Anyone could write crappy code and it all looked the same because the hardware was getting so fast that you just couldn't tell with most applications.
